Charitable Giving

Charitable giving is extremely important to our brand values, and is at the core of our foundation. We are creating something beautiful to share with you, and the world. At the same time, we are faced with real-world horrors and suffering every day. From day one, it was essential to me, and to us, to make sure that at the foundation of every creation is the intention to give back. For every sale, every day, we will be donating a minimum of 10% of net proceeds to 501(c)(3) organizations that support people who are going through a personal apocalypse.

We have a zero-tolerance policy for hate, racism, misogyny and homophobia. We would never knowingly support or endorse hate of any kind, and our donations will reflect that. We do not engage in political discussions, and we would never donate to a political candidate past, present or future, either in private or through the business. We want to make a difference directly, by giving back directly to the communities in need. This means donating to organizations that support and/or provide support networks for:

• Women in need (homelessness, domestic violence and beyond)

• Sufferers of sexual and domestic violence

• Mental health advocacy networks

• Women's sexual wellness and reproductive rights (and support specifically provided for those struggling through the side effects of negative reproductive legislation)

• Support for humans and animals during disaster relief

• Educational support for low-income families and areas

• Advocacy for those with disabilities

• Advocacy for minority groups

• LGBTQIA+ communities and rights

This is a non-exhaustive list, and many times, we will be giving back more than 10%. For example, we intend to donate to The Trevor Project, various relief funds during disaster events. We will also be donating to cause that overlap with fictional themes, with additional amounts donated to the World Health Organization on top of the 10% for any launch that involves themes of infection or zombies, and Greenpeace for any content we reference to involves an environmental or climate disaster. I would be remiss here if I didn’t mention our public stance on our themes as a brand. We would never condone or support any real-life horror. Any representation of a personal apocalypse as a theme in our brand is intended as a reference to a piece of fiction.

Any organization that funnels through backdoor channels to an alternate group will be removed from our list immediately. Any organization whose values or actions no longer reflect peaceful social change will be removed from our list immediately. We will be frank with the community about those instances should they occur after we have already donated. We will also donate those same amounts again to a worthier cause.

Charitable giving shouldn’t be performative. So why are we telling you that we intend to donate? So many times, large companies give money to causes that you would never give your money to directly. But the money they are using to support those causes comes directly from the money you paid for a product or service. They don't tell you, before or after purchasing that you are supporting these endeavors. We believe in being upfront with you – your money is paying for more than just nail polish and you have a right to know about it.

What does 10% of net proceeds actually mean?

If you purchase a nail polish with an MSRP of $13.50, you had a welcome coupon and paid $8.50, lets pretend it cost us exactly $3.50 to make it (bottle, base, pigment). You got free shipping (yay!). We paid overhead (hosting fees, boring business expenses) and marketing expenses, the cost of the shipping, and commissioned swatches. At some point in there, Apocalypse Andy made a sandwich and watched some Netflix (not free). All of that extra, that’s on us. Here’s the formula we are using to calculate charitable giving:

Gross Sales (MSRP)       $13.50

Less cost to make          ($3.50)

Net Income;                   $10.00

Charitable giving Ratio   x 10%

Charitable Donation      $1.00

We will be posting receipts. Our donations will be made, and posted, quarterly on our website. The above “cost to make” amount is purely an estimate to showcase how we are giving back. We are calculating our % off the MSRP total instead of the real sales total. Your coupon or other discount does not negatively impact anything, so please coupon away. The only thing we are subtracting from the MSRP of sales, is the costs to make the product, which will vary depending on the shade/product type.
